Ångström Solar Center

Welcome to Ångström Solar Center (ÅSC), the photovoltaics research team at Uppsala University!

Solar cells produce electricity by direct conversion of the energy in the solar radiation. Our aim is to develop the solar cell technology so that it can be used for large scale renewable electricity production.

On our web site you can read about our research and education, including proposed MSc thesis projects. You will also find brief information about CIGS solar cells.

Researcher in the clean-room
A small CIGS solar cell module is shown by Jens Schöldström in the Ångström Laboratory's cleanroom, surrounded by Karin Granath, Olle Lundberg, Johan Wennerberg and Marika Edoff.

We are located in the Ångström Laboratory at Uppsala University, Sweden.

Our research is presently financed by the Swedish Energy Agency (you may like to download and read the report about the activities of 2005/2006). We also participate in EU projects, such as LARCIS, and in the Nordic Energy Research institution's project Solar Electricity.
